all the moisture from the tulsa coast will be sneaking up the eastern seaboard. those two systems increase our rain chances, as ashley since the development in the elf is the first tropical storm of the season. gulf.e andrea in the it is a minimal tropical storm. this is the hurricane forecast track. takes it up to charlestown, eastern north carolina, maybe write off our coast friday and saturday, sneaking past us. a much weaker system on the coast, but a lot of tropical moisture. then we have a chance of showers off to the west. then we see that surge of tropical weather and andrea coming out of the carolinas. a good soaking of rain possible friday into saturday. maybe thunderstorms, too. right now, it looks like sunday will be the best day of the weekend for outdoor activities. tomorrow, a much different looking day. cloudy skies. more humid. a chance of an afternoon shower. out on the bay, the wind gusting up to 20 knots. on thethree foot chop open waters. the national weather service has issued a small craft advisory. western maryland, temperatures go way up.

it made its way through georgia overnight and today it's expected to churn up the eastern seaboard to bring with it rain, flooding and the possibility of heavy tornadoes. nick valencia is in south carolina. what do conditions look like right now? >> reporter: good morning, john. the wind is really starting to pick up here as you mentioned in the last few minutes. tropical storm andrea caused a mess in florida and now it's making its way up the eastern seaboard. rain, rain and more rain. the fast-moving tropical storm andrea is making her presence known up and down the eastern seaboard. the first storm of the hurricane season will dump rain through the weekend in every state from florida to maine. parts of the northeast seeing rain totals they haven't seen since superstorm sandy last october. in roadways all across the south, downed trees and closed streets, making it challenging to get around. >> it's pretty bad. and the flooding around here is getting worse and worse. >> reporter: in florida andrea spawned multiple tornadoes. one twister near palm beach flipping a 28-foot boat, blowi

their way to the north or the system came on push this evening and will its way through the eastern seaboard. this front will be coming east of the mountains, and where the to combine is where you get an extra lift. you can see the satellite imagery showing the circulation of this. i tomorrow afternoon, the storm system is tracking to eastern north carolina. it will cross the northern part of the bay tomorrow night. it probably will not be a tropical storm at that time. it could have gusty winds pretty main threat is on the wind. it is the heavy downpour. this is where the forecast winds are. that system moves off the coast pretty winds are out across the coast. the rains will extend all the way back into that front coming in out of the mountains. how much rain could begin? look at this. five inches up in westminster. almost five in baltimore. 1.6 inches and easton. that is by early morning on saturday. heavy rain is going to be possible until tomorrow night. at 10-15of the east miles per hour. reduced breeze, and visibility in showers crossing the bay tomorrow. showers are likely into satur

it's going to move along the eastern seaboard for the next few days. it should lose tropical characteristics by saturday. but it's going to stay near the coast. so storm surges and rip currents, and high waves, all of them are going to be a very big issue for the next several days. now talking about heavy rain, we're expecting an additional 150 millimeters of rain or 200 millimeters of rain in florida and over 100 millimeters for a wide area of the east coast of the u.s. and canada. the system is expected to converge with this system over the mainland u.s. so widespread rain is in the forecast for the next several days. another area we're watching is the texas panhandle and new mexico. but on the backside of it, dry and hot. it's going to go up even more into your saturday. up towards the north, 23 in winnipeg and rainy weather for the east coast. 26 degrees for the u.s. capitol for your friday. now in east asia then, parts of japan really need rain. the we seen rain only across the pacific coast. unfortunately dry weather for the peninsula of korea. w

take a look over towards the americas though where really much of the eastern seaboard especially east of the appalachians, that is where you're going to be seeing rough weather, upwards about 100 to 150 millimeters expected in to new england. also this cold front atotached o it, you can see the storms firing up off the coastline, that front is going to linger near the coast and some of these storms could produce 100-kilometer-per hour winds. and even hail. and there's a threat of flooding. farther towards the west this is what i really want to talk about. over here we have this high pressure ridge in place. we talk about these ridge in the troughs. you have to think about it in this context. ridge means high pressure. think of this as water flowing downhill into the trough. this is where you're going to be seeing much wet, cooler, storm off to the east. this is going to remain dry and hot. and that is what we are seeing out here. we could see a few thunderstorms, but the problem is it's so dry that once the rain falls it evaporates before hitting the ground. there's a risk of fire wea
