amna: i want to ask you about doge.taking a step back soon from his job inside the white house. how effective has been when it comes to cutting government spending? >> doge has been really effective generating headlines and creating chaos. despite promises to save $2 trillion, downscaled to $1 trillion and they claimed they have already saved 160 billion dollars, the verified savings have been closer to about $5 billion or $6 billion which is 1/10 of 1% of federal spending. that is all. they have really focused on cultural issues like d.e.i., grants, foreign aid and government employees. that isn't where the money is. it creates a lot of excitement among mag voters but they have truly only saved 1/10 of 1% of federal spending. amna: they have not touched defense or other big-ticket items. doge claims on its website it saved about 160 billion dollars but many of the cuts have been halted by the courts or republicans are now saying they may not want to enshrine them into law. if republicans don't make the cuts law, are th

amna: what do you think?een to a naturalization ceremony and it is one of the most beautiful things i have seen. however, this producer proposed to this during the tail end of the obama administration. this is not something that has popped up just for the trump administration. you can't think about that television show without thinking about it in the context we are living in, which is why i thick a lot of people were thinking, a hunger games for immigration? just because of how cruel the trump administration, how cruelly the trump administration has treated immigrants, treated migrants. i have watched reality television shows. one, rupaul's drag race. [laughter] which is a fabulous reality show. but i think where we are right now, as wonderful as it would be for the american people to see immigrants who want to be in this country and do these competitions, i don't think if this producer ends up having conversations with the dhs secretary in the trump administration, what things they would want put into the s

amna: mr.dor, in this moment, setting aside the larger issue of kashmir, the two nations have fought multiple wars over it. president trump says he hopes this ends very quickly. is there a role for the u.s. to play when it comes to mediating or de-escalating or is the ball squarely in pakistan's court now? ambassador sheikh: the united states and broader international community has previously played a role in a similar situation. the united states being of course the preeminent world power has perhaps a disproportionate responsibility for international peace, security, stability, and its maintenance, particularly given a region which india and pakistan put together holds no less than 1.6 billion people and the president of course himself has mentioned he wants to leave a legacy of peace. he wants to bring peace to the world at the end of his term so there is no other situation in the world today which is perhaps more impactful in terms of human lives and livelihoods than india and pakistan. whi
